Why are my transactions "Pending"? Article #1049

The answer to your question is...
When we recieve your transactions from your terminal, we send them to the bank. To ensure the check is valid (not stolen, altered, etc.), and for regulatory purposes, the corresponding credit to your account is noted as being "pended."

Once we have received verification of the check, account, and funds from the Federal Reserve, the funds are added to your available balance, allowing them to be credited to your account.

In some cases, such as a new account, funds are held in the pending state for a pre-determined period of time to ensure your account security.

For all pended transactions, the pending reason is detailed in the "Reason" column.
